­The Musée québécois de culture populaire bears witness to the unique identity of Québec’s diverse and evolving society. Its dynamic and bold exhibitions are thought-provoking and encourage discovery. Adjacent to the Museum, the Old Prison of Trois-Rivières, classified a historic monument, offers an unforgettable visit-experience behind bars.

  • Open all year, Museum Schedule Summer (June 24 - Labour Day (first Monday in September) inclusively: Everyday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Autumn - Winter - Spring: Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Old Jail Schedule Summer (June 24 - Labour Day (first Monday in September) inclusively: Everyday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fall (From the 2nd Tuesday of September to 2nd Sunday of October): - Tuesday to Sunday, From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Winter (From the 2nd Sunday of October to mid-April) - Thursday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Spring (From mid-April to June 23rd ): - Tuesday to Sunday, From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Museum and Old Jail are closed December 24th, 25th, 26th and 31st and January 1st and 2nd

Permanent Exhibitions
  • Go to Jail! Go to Jail! Next to the Museum, the Old Prison of Trois-Rivières (1822) - a classified historic monument - allows you to catch a glimpse of life behind bars.
Temporary exhibitions
  • Fred's Toy Box Fred's Toy Box Sculptures by the Viatour-Berthiaume duo, inspired by Fred Pellerin's stories.
  • La Petite Vie The Exhibition Paré family's life immersion. Costumes, sets, unpublished excerpts and more !
  • Québec seen through its ads Québec’s modern history seen through a retrospective of the advertisements that marked its heritage and revealed the creative genius of our advertisers.
  • Québec, Criminally Speaking Québec, Criminally Speaking An exhibition on Québec's criminal history in the twentieth century, set against the backdrop of an evolving Québec society. The exhibit looks back at the major criminal investigations that marked the first half of the century, as well as crime trends since 1960 and advances in forensic science, where Québec has been among the pioneers in North America.
Cultural experience
  • Sentenced to one Night Come with a group to experience a One-night sentence in prison: booking procedures, testimonials from ex-inmates, a night in cell and breakfast fit for a prisoner. Available only for groups of 15 to 39 persons.
  • Verdict attendu At the Old Prison of Trois-Rivières, become a member of the jury in the case of a man accused of murder in the 1920's. Reservation required.
